Oh my god, so yesterday my mom was babysitting this five year old kid who I’ve never met before, and I, being courteous and sociable, immediately asked them what their preferred pronouns were. They looked up at me with confusion and asked me what I meant. Now, I guess I was being too patient and should have just told them off for their ignorance, but instead I decided to be extra lenient and explain to them what I meant.
What I said was “Preferred pronouns are words like he and she and ze and many others which are meant to be indicative of one’s gender identity.”
And do you want to know what this little brat said to me after that?
“Oh! I’m a girl, silly!”
I nearly fell over right there. I couldn’t even believe what I was hearing. This worthless cisfuck not only had the nerve to assume all people who identified as girls preferred the same set of gender pronouns, but also used blatant ableism to verbally attack me for daring to be considerate enough to avoid the cisnormativity that is rapidly destroying our world.
I am now scared for my life. This girl lives down the street from me and now, knowing she is cis, I am in constant fear of her and her rampant bigotry.
